Year of St. Joseph
(8thDecember 2020-8thDecember 2021)

With the Apostolic Letter ‘Patris Corde’ (‘With a Father’s Heart’), Pope Francis recalls the 150th anniversary of the declaration of Saint Joseph as Patron of the Universal Church.
To mark the occasion, the Holy Father has proclaimed a ‘Year of Saint Joseph’ from 8th December 2020, to 8th December 2021.

‘Fratelli Tutti’ - Pope Francis' Social Encyclical (October 2020)
Fraternity and social friendship are the ways the Pontiff indicates to build a better, more just and peaceful world, with the contribution of all: people and institutions. With an emphatic confirmation of a ‘no’ to war and to globalized indifference.

Sunday 23rd January 2022
I hereby declare that the Third Sunday in Ordinary Time is to be devoted to the celebration, study and dissemination of the word of God. This Sunday of the Word of God will thus be a fitting part of that time of the year when we are encouraged to strengthen our bonds with the Jewish people and to pray for Christian unity. This is more than a temporal coincidence: the celebration of the Sunday of the Word of God has ecumenical value, since the Scriptures point out, for those who listen, the path to authentic and firm unity.
The various communities will find their own ways to mark this Sunday with a certain solemnity. It is important, however, that in the Eucharistic celebration the sacred text be enthroned, in order to focus the attention of the assembly on the normative value of God’s word.

A song of worship

Redemptorist Publications is pleased to introduce Celebrate: an initiative designed to help children grow in their faith.
Each week they will provide a Children’s Liturgy in the form of a video of the week’s Gospel reading, a reflection and a final prayer.
Fun, engaging and practical worksheets/resources will also be provided to help children continue to practise their faith.
Our Manna Assembly 30th September

We had an assembly from the Manna Day Centre who provided us with lots of information about why we are currently collecting for this charity. We found out how many people we would be helping and how we could hlp to make such a positive change.

John Henry Newman Feast Day: 9th October

“God has created me to do Him some definite service. He has committed some work to me which He has not committed to another. I have my mission. I may never know it in this life, but I shall be told it in the next. I am a link in a chain, a bond of connection between persons,” Blessed John Henry Newman wrote.

The Fatima Anniversary
The Story of Fatima
The Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of God, appeared six times to three shepherd children ("The Three Seers") near the town of Fatima, Portugal between May 13 and October 13, 1917. Appearing to the children, the Blessed Virgin told them that She had been sent by God with a message for every man, woman and child living in our century. Coming at a time when civilization was torn asunder by war and bloody violence, She promised that Heaven would grant peace to all the world if Her requests for prayer, reparation and consecration were heard and obeyed.

Cardinal Vincent Nichols on Pentecost

"In the video, I speak about the importance of our life and faith, expressed in the prayer and actions of the Church. I stress that our churches are open. More importantly, I highlight the coming season of Lent, beginning on Ash Wednesday, as the ideal time to become part of the journey through the life of our Catholic family, in the company and grace of our Blessed Lord and strengthened by each other. No one should journey through life alone. We are not created for that. I ask those who are watching the video to speak about this invitation when they get home." (Cardinal Vincent)

Year 1 and 2 organised a cake sale to raise money for CAFOD. We were thinking about how we could show almsgiving
during Lent.
The children made posters to advertise the cake sale and to send home to parents. They served customers, using their
money skills.
Thank you to all the parents who sent cakes in and who
supported us by coming to the cake sale.
We raised £128.46 for CAFOD.

February is the Month of the Holy Family

The Holy Family models for us what family life should exemplify. It is a school of virtue for both parents and children. There we find God, and learn how to connect with God and with others. The family is where love is freely given without self-interest. It is where we learn to love, to pray and to practice the gift of charity. Pope John Paul II has said, “The family, more than any other human reality, is the place in which the person is loved for himself and in which he learns to live the sincere gift of self” (Nov. 27, 2002).

WORLD DAY OF THE POOR

Pope Francis declared that Sunday November 19th 2017 would be the first World Day of the Poor.
As a way of demonstrating our commitment to ‘actions not words’ our children, parents and staff have participated in the ‘Christmas in a Box’ appeal run by the Catholic Children’s Society each year since 2017.
Have a look at the large decorated boxes that were filled in each class and then sent to children in need of toys, clothes and food in London.
Thank you everyone who helped to generously fill these wonderful boxes!
This year we are again supporting the 'Christmas in a box' appeal.
